Smartphone, Smart phone
A smartphone is a combined communication terminal of a cellular phone and a personal digital assistant (PDA). The development of manufacturing techniques for mobile phones and PDAs has resulted in significant improvements in size and cost, adding to the popularity of these devices. Mobile phones have come into widespread use due to their small size and ease of use and the widespread availability of cellular services in a large portion of the industrialized world. To better serve users with a greater need for mobility, smart phones, a combination of the PDA and mobile phone, have become commercially available. Computers are well known and have taken on a variety of flavors, including portable computers, which can be carried from place to place with relative convenience. A PDA is a small computer system which may include an electronic calendar, e-mailing and web surfing capabilities, a memory for recording appointments and things to do, word processor software for writing letters and notes, buttons and keys for entering information, a touch-sensitive display for displaying and entering information, connectors for connecting the personal digital assistant with a computer system and a printer and a land-based telephone system and other components. Such PDAs are typically small hand held devices including a battery, and a liquid or digital display (LCD) touchscreen. In general, a smartphone is a device that provides voice connectivity, data connectivity and computerized application programs such as those as offered by PDA (personal digital assistant) technology. The smart phone separately manages a call log and generates individual information, e.g., memo storing, voice recording, etc.
