Wireless communication

The wireless medium is becoming one of the predominate means by which voice information and digital data are transferred in modern society. Wireless communication systems are widely deployed to provide various types of communication such as voice and data. Wireless communication allows people to create many tasks without having to be near a corded telephone or other communication device which cannot be easily transported. The ability to send voice messages, text messages, telefax messages, and other information through a wireless device greatly enhances the flexibility a person has in keeping in communication. Wireless communication systems may operate in accordance with one or more standards including, such as, IEEE 802.11, Bluetooth, advanced mobile phone services (AMPS), digital AMPS, global system for mobile communications (GSM), code division multiple access (CDMA), wide-band CDMA (WCDMA), local multipoint distribution systems (LMDS), multi-channel-multi-point distribution systems (MMDS), and/or variations thereof. Wireless phones have rapidly become an integral part of society. This is due in large part to the increasing number of services and functions available from the wireless phone industry. Cellular telephony has been designed to permit a wireless device to send date and or voice messages over a wireless communications network providing the device is able to transmit its device identification codes appropriate to the network on which it is attempting to transmit. Cellular telephones have become an increasingly popular means of communication for today's mobile society. As mobile communications enters the age of 3G, high-speed and wide-bandwidth wireless communications become a must of the cellular phone. Mobile computers, personal digital assistants (PDAs), and notebook PCs, requiring wide bandwidth, can wirelessly connect to the Internet by using cellular phones. Wireless communication systems rely on the predictable performance of over the air radio frequency (RF) links.
