Portable DVD player

A digital video disk (DVD) is a multimedia storage device for storing data of high picture quality and high sound quality for the next generation, and stores at least two hours worth of digital images according to the Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG)-2 standard. A digital versatile disc (DVD) player is composed of three logical units, as defined in the DVD specification. A DVD player may be coupled to other devices, such as a display device, a video/audio recording device, audio equipment and communicate with these other devices via a data bus. Such communication occurs in accordance with a bus protocol. A DVD player includes an A/V (Audio/Video) decoder for decoding compressed video and audio data. In known A/V decoders, when operating in a fast replay mode, sub-picture data is not synchronized with the MPEG video data. Digital versatile disc players are each equipped with a pick-up head (PUH) and a pick-up base (PUB), the PUB being comprised of a spindle motor and a feeding system. Electronic equipment, such as digital video disc (DVD) players, has become increasingly lighter and more compact. The technology is currently available to enable DVD players and other electronic equipment, to be completely portable. Portable DVD players include a battery for providing power to the disc drive as well as other electronic components of the system that are collateral to the disc drive. These collateral electronic components include data processing electronics used to process the data stored on the recording medium of the disc drive, voltage regulators, battery chargers and other electronic components. Portable DVD players and the like have become increasingly common and popular. One reason for the success of such devices is the advance in the technology of low power, lightweight and inexpensive flat panel displays.
