Home theater system
A home theater system is equipment intended for the domestic environment and capable of reproducing cinema quality video and audio information that is being supplied by a variety of information sources. Home theater systems allow the user to experience the sound quality of a good cinema set-up in their own home, with a properly set up system creating a 360 degree sound field placing the user in the centre of the action. A typical home audio-visual (AV) equipment includes a number of components such as a radio receiver or "tuner," an audio/visual amplifier (A/V amp), a compact disk (CD) player and/or a digital video disc player (DVD), a number of speakers, a television or a digital projector, a digital video recorder (DVR) or a video cassette recorder (VCR), and a game system attached to a television. Each of these components is connected to the others via a set of wires. Multichannel audio has become the standard for cinema and home theater, and is gaining rapid acceptance in music, automotive, computers, gaming and other audio applications. Multichannel audio provides a surround-sound environment that greatly enhances the listening experience and the overall presentation of any audio-visual system. Thus, the owner of such a system can watch and record television content, watch and record movies, play video games, etc. while experiencing surround sound. Because of spread of a DVD and digital high-vision broadcast, large displays are rapidly in increasing demand. In particular, a projection display apparatus represented by a liquid crystal projector or plasma display panel (PDP) is more popular.
