Plasma TV
As the national income is growing, the demand for life quality is getting higher and higher. Since the volume of traditional cathode ray tube television (CRT TV) is large in addition to its problem of loosing originality of color and proportion, CRT TV is eliminated gradually. Various kinds of television color displays have been developed in the world, such as liquid crystal displays (LCD) technique, rear projection display technique, plasma display technique, laser color display technique, overlapping LED display technique and the like. Recently, plasma TV (PDP-TV) receivers, a kind of plasma display devices employing the plasma display panel (PDP), have been spreading rapidly in the market for large-screen TV receivers. A plasma display panel PDP is a display device using a phenomenon that visible ray is generated from a fluorescent substance when vacuum ultraviolet ray generated by gas discharge excites the fluorescent substance. The plasma display devices can be divided into an AC type and a DC type in terms of the driving method. A DC PDP is designed to operate in a direct current discharge state in which electrodes are exposed to a discharge space (discharge gas). An AC PDP is designed to operate in an alternating current discharge state in which electrodes are covered with dielectric layers and are not directly exposed to a discharge gas. Because of advantages in offering a higher resolution display and implementing larger display sizes, as well as the ease of manufacture, those plasma display devices of AC surface discharge type are forming the main stream in the industry. Conventional TV employs CRT to display images to project onto a glass panel. Due to the need of a large image, a large electron gun is needed and he CRT will be very big. The advantages of a plasma TV is no matter how big is the image, the size, thickness is only 1/6 of the CRT. The plasma screen is thinner and lighter than a cathode ray tube CRT, which has been used as main display means so far, and can be embodied of high definition and wide screen. The PDP includes a plurality of discharge cells arranged in a matrix, and one discharge cell constitutes one pixel of a screen.
