Ultraviolet (UV) sensor
Exposure to ultra violet radiation can cause a wide range of deleterious effects in human skin, including dehydration, burning, premature aging, and discolouration. In addition, excessive exposure to ultraviolet radiation can be carcinogenic in humans. Detection of ultraviolet (UV) radiation is an important feature for many applications. Sensitive UV light detection may find applications as diverse as military, security, commercial, and consumer applications. An ultraviolet detector is being widely used in military, environmental, and industrial fields, for example a flame monitor, a water purification system, money counting and fake detection machines, a sunlight exposure meter, photochemical phenomena detection, etc. The detector is generally constituted by a photodiode, which is sensitive to other light beams as well as the ultraviolet rays and, accordingly, only the ultraviolet rays can be detected by the cooperation of the photodiode and the ultraviolet ray pass filter.
