RF network analyzer
A network analyzer is a test system that characterizes the performance of radio frequency (RF) and microwave/millimeter wave devices under tests (DUTs) in terms of network scattering parameters. A DUT is a relatively small component designed to interface with a trace contact point on a printed circuit board (PCB). A vector network analyzer (VNA) is an important instrument for measuring and characterizing RF or microwave devices and components. Network scattering parameters, or S-parameters, are transmission and reflection (T/R) coefficients for the DUT computed from measurements of voltage waves traveling toward and away from a port or ports of the DUT. An S-parameter is expressed either in terms of a magnitude and phase or in an equivalent form as a complex number, the complex number having a real part and an imaginary part. A radio frequency network analyzer system consists of a network analyzer and may include a multi-port test set. The RF network analyzer integrates a synthesized radio frequency source with built-in couplers for signal separation, a narrow band receiver, a display and a processor.
