RF diplexer

A diplexer is a device which separates a received signal into two frequency ranges within the received signal. Diplexers are commonly used to split an incoming signal into two component parts, respectively having differing frequency components. The frequency splitting properties of diplexers are often used in the communications field to switch between two different operating frequencies. A diplexer is a three terminal device for separating signals of different frequencies or frequency bands, to different ports. Diplexers may comprise discrete circuit components to bandpass, highpass or lowpass filter a received signal into two frequency ranges. Radio frequency (RF) diplexers generally include two fixed bandpass filters sharing a common port (antenna port) through a circulator or a T-junction. Signals applied to the antenna port are coupled to a receiver port through the receive bandpass filter, and signals applied to a transmitter port will reach the antenna port through a transmit filter.
