Turn signal switch
Signal switches are designed to indicate a specified condition. In automotive vehicles the turn signal switch is used to allow the driver to turn on and off the left or right turn signal lamp by turning the top end of the switch lever in either direction of right or left turn from neutral position. In a turn signal switch for a car, the base end of a control lever is rotatably supported in a housing that is incorporated with a steering column, and the leading end of the control lever is turned from the neutral position to the right-direction indicating position or the left-direction indicating position, thereby causing a left-turn lamp or a right-turn lamp to blink. To retain the operating lever at three positions of the right and left direction indicating positions and the neutral position, the inner surface of the turn signal switch housing is provided with a cam surface, and the operating lever is provided, through the intermediation of a spring, with a pressurizing member to be engaged with the cam surface. There is generally provided a turn signal cancellation mechanism for automatically canceling the switch lever back to neutral position from either the right or left turn position when the steering wheel is turned in the reverse direction of indication.
