High voltage power supply

Many different power supplies have been developed over the years for various different applications. High voltage power supplies often are used in applications where a load connected to the power supply includes a significant inductive or capacitive component. A high voltage power supply is employed in devices such as a copier, laser printer, facsimile, and digital printer as a core part, which operates to instantly convert low voltage of 12 24V to high voltage of several hundreds volts (V), or to several thousand volts (kV) for use in temporarily inscribing images on a drum of the printer or copier. A widely used method for producing high voltage DC power is to convert the power from a low voltage power DC source to high voltage by a device known as an inverter. The low voltage DC power is converted to alternating current (AC) power by an oscillator circuit and then is transformed to high voltage AC power by a transformer. The AC power is converted to DC power by a rectifier and filtering circuit.
