Video projector

A projector is an apparatus for displaying computer images, television images, etc. Projectors can be broadly classified into two categories: data projectors and video projectors, depending on their intended use. Data projectors project an image based on image signals received from an information terminal, such as a personal computer. Video projectors project a screen image of TV or a movie based on screen image signals received from an AV device. Video projectors have been introduced for projecting light onto a screen to produce pictures derived from electrical signals obtained from video signal receivers. Video projectors are typically used for watching a movie in dark places, such as less-illuminated rooms, where picture quality including color balance or contrast is more important than brightness. Generally, a video projector has a light reflecting mirror device driven on the basis of digital video signal, and a projection lens through which light reflected by the light reflecting mirror device is projected. Among those video projectors is one using a transmission type optical modulation element such as an LCD panel and one using a reflection type optical modulation element such as a DMD (digital micromirror device).
