Home theater projector
A projector widely used for presentation is an image display apparatus that projects light representing an image in response to an image signal output from an image supply apparatus, such as a computer, so as to display the image. Conventionally, projectors have often been used for presentations at conferences, scientific meetings, exhibitions and the like. Such a projector is used as a data projector for mainly displaying documents, graphs and so on. Nowadays, such projectors are recently used for the purpose of home-theater for serving the needs of watching movies etc. on a wide screen at home. People have been enjoying viewing movies and other video images at their leisure, in the privacy of their homes, on television monitors or other types of display screens. The ready availability of recorded commercial movies as well as other video material on VHS tapes and DVDs, has greatly increased the popularity of large screen televisions, and various types of monitors for viewing such video materials. With the advance of video/audio equipment and storage media, such as high power stereos and large capacity DVDs, many people wish to enjoy the same real-time perceptive feeling as in a home theater through the projector screen projected from the projector with the combination of projectors and stereos, which makes the use of projectors gradually extend into normal families. Many families have taken the entertainment concept one step further by setting up a home theater system that employs a projector to project video images onto a screen mounted at the front of the room, or other appropriate surface. These projector systems provide excellent viewing quality while simulating a large screen, cinema-like experience. Rear projectors have progressively seen higher demand and been utilized more frequently as suitable displays for home theater monitors and wide-screen television sets. A rear projector for home theater system has an image generator for generating a projection image, a box-shaped casing accommodating the image generator and a reflection mirror for reflecting the projected image and a transmissive screen. The image generator has a light source lamp, an optical device such as a liquid crystal panel for modulating a light beam irradiated by the light source lamp in accordance with image information, and a projection optical system such as a projection lens for enlarging and projecting the generated optical image. The optical image generated by the image generator is reflected on a mirror etc. to be projected on the transmissive screen, which transmits through the screen to be viewed as an image. Such home theater projector also accommodates acoustic device such as a speaker inside the casing thereof, so that the large-screen image has much presence with the use of the acoustic device.
