Octava 5x1 HDMI switch

HDTV technology is changing rapidly. HD connections such as HDMI will become the de facto standard in HDTV connections. A HDMI switch allows the end user to select multiple HDMI sources, such as DVD players, settop boxes, into 1 HD monitor. With increased HDM sources, an external HDMI switch will be needed in order for the user to select the desired input. HDMI is backward compatible with DVI-D. This switch will work with either DVI or HDMI. We understand that you may have a "mixed" system and require different cables. We allow you to choose the type of cable that you need during purchase. We have outlined the important features of a good HDMI switch, along with the design considerations involved. The Octava HDMI switch has been meticulously engineered for superior impedance matching, minimum skew and clean transmission. The basic models available are 3x1 HDMI switch, which simply means that there are 3 inputs and 1 output. The 3X1 HDMI switch allows the user to switch between 3 HDMI sources. There are also 5x1 HDMI switches available which allows the user to select up to 5 HDMI sources. By the way, we highly encourage users to select at least a 3 port model for future expandability. 2 port HDMI switches will be 100% occupied as most HD hometheaters will use a HD cable or satellite receiver and a HD DVD player. With a plethora of HDMI sources, for example PS3, Blu-Ray, HD DVD, Apple TV, and HD video cards coming to market, it is prudent to have at least 3 HDMI inputs available to your HDTV. All switches are HDCP compatible and are transparent to the HDCP process ensuring compatibility. Furthermore, Clear Eye technology has been employed to correct and improve signal quality over HDMI cables.

In addition, Octava HDMI switch incorporate Smart Scan auto-detection, which intelligently and automatically select the desired HDMI source allowing for the ultimate user friendliness. Smart Scan simplifies the user experience by minimizing dependence on additional remote controls. A further benefit of Smart Scan is that the HDMI switch may be placed behind the equipment cabinet and be controlled without an additional IR extender. All Octava HDMI switches utilize a dedicated power adapter.
