Track lighting
Track lighting systems and fixtures are used to provide ample illumination by the use of attractive components that blend well into the surrounding room design and decor. Track lighting systems not only provide an electrical connection to a light fixture, but through adaptors mounted to the light fixtures, actually provide the support function as well. Track lighting systems can provide light over a wide area and can be used to accentuate specific objects within a room. With track lighting, lights may be placed and the position of the lights may be changed to accommodate changes in display of merchandise in commercial applications and rearrangement of furniture in residential applications. Thus, track lighting systems are widely used both in private residences as well as in publicly accessible buildings, such as commercial establishments and museums. A track lighting system typically comprises an elongated track which is mounted to a support, such as a ceiling or wall. The track presents an elongated slot for receiving the adapter ends of lamp holders. Electrical conductor strips are mounted within the track and arranged to be contacted by terminals disposed on the adapters for applying electrical power to the light fixtures. Track lighting typically includes an electrically conductive track and fixtures which are mounted to the track. A low-voltage transformer is provided at one end of the track to connect the track to a source of electricity, such as an electrical outlet in the house or an electrical circuit in the house.
