Spotlight
Spotlights of various configurations, beam shape and power have been used. Many vehicles are equipped with spotlights. The spotlights are often mounted on the top or side of the vehicle and are controlled by the vehicle operator from inside the vehicle. The driver turns on a switch and then orients the spotlight using a handle that is mechanically connected to the spotlight. The art contains several examples of this type of spotlight. In a theater stage, spotlights are widely used to produce spot lighting on a special scene. The spotlight is provided with a number of color mediums in the form of different colored films to project out light beams of different colors. Portable spotlights typically include a handle for grasping by the user and may be battery powered or may include a power cord for connecting to a source of power. Portable spotlights include rechargeable batteries. To recharge depleted batteries after use, the batteries usually must be removed from the device and carried to a distantly located charging base. The batteries are then inserted into and recharged in the charging base which is typically connected to a conventional house or building electrical outlet that provides necessary recharging current. Portable flashlight or spotlight devices are commonly used for various nighttime household activities or for a variety of outdoor recreational purposes such as, for instance, setting up a tent or working around a campsite at night. In spotlights, which are used typically in the field of entertainment to project beams of light, means are provided that allow to delimit perimetrically the light beam. Generally spotlights comprise, in addition to a reflector and a glass which together delimit a volume in which an electric light bulb is located, a shell surrounding the reflector at a distance therefrom and fixed to the reflector in the immediate vicinity of its junction with the glass, said shell being provided with a member for mounting the spotlight on a support.
