Photography lighting
Lighting systems are an integral part of the film and photography industries. Proper illumination is necessary when filming movies, television shows, or commercials, when shooting video clips, or when taking still photographs, whether such activities are carried out indoors or outdoors. In high quality commercial and industrial photography, good lighting is essential to accurate photographer reproduction. A primary purpose of a
photography lighting system is to illuminate a subject to allow proper image capture or achieve a desired effect. The proper illumination of a subject being photographed is most important in the production of high quality photography, and photographers utilize a wide variety of lighting devices in achieving the desired illumination. It may be necessary or desired to obtain lighting that has a certain tone, warmth, or intensity. It may also be necessary or desired to have certain lighting effects, such as colorized lighting, strobed lighting, gradually brightening or dimming illumination, or different intensity illumination in different fields of view. Various types of photographic illumination devices are known which provide artificial photography lighting. Such apparatus, both for motion picture or still photography, television scene illumination and the like, is usually provided to, selectively, provide direct or indirect illumination of the scenes or objects to be photographed or recorded. Artificial illumination includes direct lighting, indirect lighting, and a variety of light reflectors, flash units, windows, and other light sources are employed to achieve the desired result. In operation, such light fixtures have light output directed in a predetermined direction. Usually, the light source is stationary with respect to the subject being photographed.
