Outdoor lighting

Outdoor lighting systems are used to illuminate and delineate pathways, driveways, sidewalks, patios, plant beds, and lawns. Such lighting provides illumination for practical as well as decorative purposes, including highlighting landscaping and various architectural features of various improvements. The lights add aesthetic beauty to the house, provide an element of security by illuminating dark areas, and often increase the value of house and property. Parks and other public areas also benefit from the use of outdoor lights. Lighting for such areas is often provided by lighting fixtures that serve to illuminate the selected areas but also produce glare and unwanted lighting outside such areas. There are a variety of outdoor lighting devices that use a variety of embodiments and power sources. Outdoor lighting often requires projection of light from a source in various directions and at various intensities. In addition, lighting fixtures used in outdoor lighting situations must possess precision cutoff angles and symmetrical or asymmetrical light distribution characteristic. Outdoor street lighting fixtures have a light lens which covers the light-producing means emitting light from the luminaries. Solar lamps are already known which have a battery that is charged up during daylight hours by solar radiation and which provide light at night in gardens and open spaces when required.
