Night light
Night lights have long been useful for providing small amounts of illumination so individuals can safely traverse the inner areas of a house at night. They are used primarily to dimly illuminate corridors and rooms in order to ease a child's fear of darkness, or to aid a person walking around at night in an otherwise dark environment. Night lights are especially common in children's rooms and in bathrooms to provide dim illumination. The night lights are plugged in for example a wall outlet for long term operation so that the power consumption is one of the major concerns. Generally, the night lights use an incandescent lamp as the light source which not only consumes a great amount of power but also generates generally insufficient luminance. More recently, the use of other illumination sources than incandescent bulbs in night lights is known. Particularly, the use of electroluminescent panels is known; and such panels may comprise LEDs and OLEDs. Electroluminescent lighting devices are increasingly used because of their flexibility, low power consumption, and low operating temperature, and their relative brightness, color choice, and wide viewing angle in comparison with other low power consumption devices.
