Light bulb, lighting bulb

Light bulbs generally use one of three standard bases: the Edison base, the intermediate base, or the "candelabra" base. Typical light bulbs consist of a glass bulb which is gas-filled and containing a filament to produce light when electricity is applied, a base which is a conductive metal cylinder lining the outside circumference of the base, and a small circular and cone-shaped or rounded contact point that provides an electrical path through the filament to the threaded base. Incandescent light bulbs are commonly used for indicator lamps, task lamps, general lighting, decorative lamps, warning lamps, traffic lamps and the like. However, it is well known that such bulbs have a limited life time and after a certain number of hours of operation, the bulbs will fail. Significant savings can be made by the use light bulbs wherein the source of light is from light emitting diodes (LED). Light emitting diodes are known which, when disposed on a circuit, accept electrical impulses from the circuit and convert the impulses into light signals. LEDs consume a fraction of the energy used to illuminate incandescent bulbs and last much longer. In ceilings and chandeliers, commercially available compact fluorescent light bulbs are commonly used. Decorative light bulb strings are widely applied on various occasions. A decorative light bulb series generally consists of a plurality of miniature light bulb sockets. Those light bulb sockets are small and are provided with light bulbs mounted thereon and electrical wires extending into the socket shells. The socket for a light bulb is designed for electric conduction between the light bulb and an electric wire of a power supply, wherein the electric conduction between several light bulbs and several sockets are controlled by a power switch.
