Lantern

A lantern is a portable illumination apparatus used to illuminate the dark places. Lantern is a type of popular spotlight because it can be used as an outdoor lighting means in many circumstances, such as during outdoor camping, finishing, and hunting. Lanterns may be A/C powered, D/C powered or powered by the battery of an automobile. Battery-powered lanterns are well known and are used worldwide as portable light sources for a wide variety of work and leisure activities. Such lanterns typically include a base and a fixture mounted on the base. One or more light bulbs are supported within the fixture, and a battery is contained within the base to power the bulbs. A typical lantern is in the form of a casing which generally assumes a somewhat cylindrical configuration. The forward or front end of the casing terminates in a lens assembly. There is a hand operated switch mounted on the casing which when moved to an activated position will cause a beam of light to be projected through the lens assembly to be projected onto a given area that is selected by the individual holding the lantern.
