Industrial keyboards: membrane keyboard, backlit keyboard

NSI designs, manufactures and markets industrial keyboards and pointing devices as either standard products or tailored to meet specific customer requirements. All aspects of mechanical and electrical design are provided for by the in-house engineering department. Working closely with the customer from initial concept through to production, NSI ensures that the most appropriate specification is achieved.

These 32 keys keyboards are fully AT and PS/2 compatible and are to be used with standard US-keyboard driver. They enable all major functions of a large 101/102 MF keyboard in a small outline. Function keys F1 to F10 and complete upper and lower case alphabet are available. Distinct and easy recognition of the different functions due to three different legend colours corresponding with the mode-keys: black for UNSHIFT; red for SHIFT and green for ALPHA mode which is toggle function indicated by seperate green LED.

Small footprint industrial keyboard offering all major functions of a full size MF keyboard : 103 keys, separate numerical keypad, the KBM103 compact keyboards are ideal for front panel mounting by means of six M4-threaded studs. Operation of the keyboard is possible at all mounting angles (from horizontal to vertical). Metal protection covers on the backside protect the mechanical- and electronical components. The PS/2 keyboards are supplied with one 1,6 m long shielded straight cable ended with 6 pin mini DIN plugs. The USB versions are supplied with one 1,6m long shielded straight cable ended by a USB type A connector.

The KBTS103 compact keyboards are small size industrial keyboard offering all major functions of a full size MF keyboard with integrated industrial touchstick. The touchstick combines the functionality of a mouse and the flexibility of a joystick in one convenient, small footprint package. It is a precise cursor control device using a capacitive sensing technology. The cursor movement is controlled by pushing slightly on the top of the stick and moving the finger sideways. It can be operated while wearing gloves and it is completely sealed to IP65 by the rubber cover. Ideal for front panel mounting by means of six M4-threaded studs. Operation of the keyboard is possible at all mounting angles (from horizontal to vertical). Metal protection covers on the backside protect the mechanical- and electronical components. The PS/2 keyboards are supplied with two 1,6 m long shielded straight cables ended with 6 pin mini DIN plugs.

The 106 key "trackerboard" with 38mm trackball features a full MF (multi-functional) keyboard with separate numeric-, cursor- and control keypads. The robust industrial grade trackball has a ball diameter of 38 mm and allows accurate and precise cursor control. The keyboard part is sealed to IP65, the self-adjusting PTFE seal of the trackball enables an IP65 static (ball in rest) protection grade. Colour scheme and legend styling fit with the most recent industrial computer equipment. The keyboard and trackball are combined in one compact, robust steel enclosure and will fit into 19" rack drawers (1HU) or can be used as desktop model. The PS/2 keyboards are supplied with two 1,6 m long shielded straight cable ended with 6 pin mini DIN plugs. The USB versions are supplied with one 1,6m long shielded straight cable ended by a USB type A connector.

The 106 key "trackerboard" with 50mm trackball features a full MF (multi-functional) keyboard with separate numeric-, cursor- and control keypads. The large, robust industrial grade trackball has a ball diameter of 50 mm and allows highest precision in cursor control. The keyboard part is sealed to IP65, the self-adjusting PTFE seal of the trackball enables an IP65 static (ball in rest) protection grade. Colour scheme and legend styling fit with the most recent industrial computer equipment. The keyboard and trackball are combined in one compact, robust steel enclosure. The unit has been designed to be used as desktop model. Front panel mounting by means of eight

The touchpad uses the Field Distortion Technology to sense the presence of your finger. This device is not pressure sensitive, a light touch is sufficient, tracking your fingertip precisely. The complete unit is sealed IP65. Colour scheme and legend styling fit in with most recent industrial computer equipment. The KSTM80 keyboard uses short travel switches with low pressure and positive tactile feedback for convenient data entry. In spite of its compact dimensions, this keyboard emulates all major key functions of a large multifunctional keyboard thanks to its "Fn" key mapping. The integrated and industry proven 38mm trackball warrants for a comfortable and accurate control over the cursor.

The KST102 keyboard uses short travel switches with low pressure and positive tactile feedback for convenient fast data entry. The waterproof level of the unit is obtained thanks to the inherent sealing capabilities of its polyester front. The fields of industrial applications are very wide; indoor- and outdoor where a higher input speed is required while maintaining outstanding sealing characteristics. Ideal for front panel mounting by means of eight M4-threaded studs. The sealing into the customers’ panel is assured by an IP67 grade silicone sponge seal which is part of the supply.

The KSTL105 keyboard uses short travel switches with low pressure and positive tactile feedback for convenient fast data entry. The keyboard features an integrated large 50mm trackball. The IP67 waterproof level of the panel mount version is is obtained thanks to the inherent sealing capabilities of its polyester front and of the trackballs' "Optical Navigation Technology" with solid state sensing. The IP67 waterproof level of the panel mount version is obtained thanks to the inherent sealing capabilities of its polyester front and of the touchpad technology with solid state sensing. The fields of industrial applications are very wide; indoor- and outdoor where a higher input speed is required while maintaining outstanding sealing characteristics.

The 105 key nightvision keyboard combines all functions, controls and features for comfortable key input and cursor control under low light conditons as well as under normal daylight. This sealed industrial keyboard integrates a 50mm large industrial grade trackball for accurate and precise cursor control. The key legends, the key edges and the trackball contour are backlighted for ease of recognition under low light conditions. In addition, the intensity of the backlight is digitally dimmable in 8 steps in order to set it to the operators' best comfort. An automatic night/day sensor controls the on/off setting of the backlight. Several internal features warant for a longer life of the backlighting source. Use of an electro-luminescent (EL) lamp from a specialized, reputable source with many years of field experience in naval and aeronautics applications. The EL lamp has an aluminium base layer for longest mechanical life under intensive switch operations. Thanks to the automatic night/day on/off switching and to the dimmable light intensity, the useful life is at least 10.000 hours and the expected useful life under low light conditions (light source intensity of 10 cd/m²) is more than 20.000 hours.

The 36 key commander keyboard consists of 36 numerical, function and control keys and a compact 25mm industrial grade trackball. The condensed but well defined key layout together with the use of a separate trackball enables a fast and comfortable access of the most important machine commands and an accurate control of the screens' cursor. Features include 36 short travel, tactile feel switches with 2.55 N operating force; compact 25mm trackball with IP65 static sealing grade; front of panel mounting by eight M3 mounting studs; sealing into customers' panel guaranteed by added silicone sealing sponge; and directly connectable to PS/2 or USB ports via shielded cable(s) of 1.6.meter

The "Duralight "series features an 80 key industrial keyboard with an integrated 38mm industrial trackball. The unit uses high brightness white LED's, lighting not only the key legends, as in most LED backlit keyboards, but also the key edges, the trackball contour and even possible customer logo's or trademarks. Using low power LED's warrants for a long life while an external power supply is not necessary; the power from the keyboard port being sufficient. The keyboard uses short travel switches with low pressure and positive tactile feedback and emulates all major key functions of a large multifunctional keyboard due to its "Fn" key mapping. The keyboard is back panel mounted into a bezel fitted with twelve M3-threaded studs for ease of front panel mounting into the user's panel or cabinet. The added silicon sponge seal assures the sealing into the users' cabinet.
