Toroidal transformer
Transformers are used in a variety of electrical circuits to transfer electrical energy from one part of a circuit to another through magnetic field coupling. A transformer is typically constructed from two or more coils, or windings, of wire in close proximity such that electrical characteristics may be transferred. Toroidal transformers are known as electric transformers whose magnetic core has a closed annular form. The primary and secondary windings of such a transformer are generally coiled one on the other. Toroidal transformer assemblies include a transformer, a transformer container or housing and mounting hardware for supporting the transformer within the housing. The transformer includes a cylindrical core, made of magnetic steel, and various electrical coils wound around the core and passing through the eye of the core. Toroidal transformers are based on magnetic cores of toroidal shape. Multiple windings are threaded through the center hole of the core and distributed evenly along the circumference of the toroidal core. Insulation is provided between the toroidal core and the first winding, between successive windings, and on the outside of the last winding.
