USB computer keyboard
Keyboards are indispensable computer hardware for data and command input. Various kinds of computer keyboards have been developed and widely used to couple to various kinds of computer facilities. Normally, the typical computer keyboards are coupled to computer facilities with electrical cables. Computer systems have recently begun using USB as a form of interface to Universal Serial Bus (USB) peripheral devices such as disk drives, printers, modems, keyboards and a mouse. The Universal Serial Bus is designed to operate with advanced operating systems which provide bus mastering. Usually a personal computer (PC) provides at least one standard USB port. Any peripheral device that implements the USB standard can connect to a PC equipped with a USB port and transmit/receive data through the USB port. The Universal Serial Bus provides a uniform connector to which all external peripheral devices connect. USB enabled peripheral devices can be daisy chained together and connected to only a single USB port on a PC. Theoretically, up to 127 USB-enabled peripherals can be chained together. Another important advantage of a USB port is that the connection of USB peripherals to the port will be recognized by a USB-compliant operating system without the need to reboot the computer.
