Car stereo, car audio system
Audio components such as an AM/FM radio, cassette player, or compact disc player are increasingly popular options on vehicles. Modern high performance car audio equipment typically comprises a head-unit, i.e. tuner/receiver and compact disk player and one or power amplifiers. A vehicle-loaded audio device comprises a drive mechanism for carrying out recording/playback on and from a medium (e.g., a cassette tape, CD or MD), a front panel provided with an opening for insertion of the medium and a plurality of control keys, a chassis for supporting the drive mechanism and the front panel, a main board attached to the chassis. In some cases, subwoofers are also included to provide high quality low frequency sound reproduction. Audio systems for a vehicle normally include a plurality of front loudspeakers and a plurality of rear loudspeakers all of which have the same characteristics. Car speaker systems reproduce stereo sound by means of a plurality of speakers to create a stereo acoustic image. The speakers are arranged in the vehicle cabin so that acoustic image or images are formed at suitable points of the vehicle cabin to provide high-quality audio sound. Radios in an automotive vehicle are provided with a receiver which is mounted in the dashboard of the automotive vehicle. Such a radio includes at least one, and sometimes a plurality of speakers which may either be mounted in the same casing as the receiver. Generally, a plurality of buttons for selecting a mode of a car audio system and controlling a function of the car audio system, including a volume knob that controls a volume of the car audio system, is provided on a front panel which is mounted to the front of the car audio system. To facilitate use and control of the entertainment system by all passengers, wireless remote control systems, typically transmitting infrared signals, have also been included in vehicle entertainment systems.
