Electronic connector
Connectors are devices that are frequently used to connect cables or electronic devices to one another. In the electronics and computer industries, it has been well known to employ various types of electronic component packages and integrated circuit chips. These integrated circuit chips have a pin grid array (PGA) package and are typically installed into a socket which is soldered to a computer circuit board. Computers commonly transfer data to and from various peripheral devices such as printers and scanners through signal cables commonly called input/output (I/O) cables. Common cable standards in the personal computer industry include serial I/O (RS-232), parallel I/O (sometimes called Centronics), and Small Computer Standard Interface (SCSI). Electronics connectors in the computer and communications industry are available for a wide array of applications from communications and data transfer applications to power connections. A variety of electronic components or parts are mounted on a printed circuit board which is to be incorporated in various electronic apparatus. Among these electronic components or parts, electronic connectors are characterized in that they are usually mounted on an end portion of a printed circuit board for realizing the required function of electrically connecting the PCB to an external device. Various electronic connectors are known and used for different purposes. Typically, such connectors include an insulative body which mounts a plurality of contacts in conjunction with electrical components such as capacitors or other such components. Where capacitors are used, such components which may comprise electronic chip capacitors are coupled in circuit with the contacts to form capacitive filters. An electronic connector terminal is generally formed by punching a thin plate of electrically conductive material into a predetermined shape. Such an electronic connector terminal usually comprises planar parts defined by front and back faces of a punched out piece and peripheral or lateral parts formed by the punching of the thin plate.
