Cable tray
Cable trays are used as a support system for carrying electrical cables, wires, tubing, piping or other conduits over various distances in buildings and other commercial structures. Cable trays are used extensively in the construction industry for running the various cables used in a building along certain predetermined paths. Cable tray systems are utilized in many applications wherein electrical conductors, typically large gauge electrical conductors, are required to operably link remotely located electrical components. Cable trays have been used in power stations and large industrial plants for a number of years to support cables as an alternative to placing them in conduit. Such cable trays are generally supported from the wall or ceiling, at levels above a person's head while standing, in order to avoid obstructing normal floor space. The cable tray provides a rigid structure which is anchored along a predetermined pathway to facilitate the routing and support of electrical conductors therealong. Cable trays comprise beamed or spined members having regularly spaced transverse arms for cradling cables, wiring, tubes and the like, such as for computer networks, telecommunications. Cable tray is typically supported by a series of parallel support bars suspended at intervals and spaced lengthwise of the cable tray. The cable tray rests on these support bars and is held in position on the bars by hold-down members which are affixed to the support bars by suitable fasteners.
