Cable tie
Cable ties, or straps are used to bundle or secure a group of articles such as electrical wires and cables. The use of cable ties to bundle a plurality of wires or similar articles has long been known. Many industrial, commercial and residential buildings and offices have or need numerous wires, cables and the like for various electrical and electronic devices including telecommunications, computers, and security. These wires are frequently bundled together during installation in the ceilings, walls and floors. The electricians and installers of these wires and cables generally use cable ties to bundle the plurality of wires and cables and may bundle previously installed wires and cables. Cable ties typically comprise an elongated strip of material, such as plastic, having a head at one end, a tail at the other end and either teeth or rungs disposed along the length of the tail. Cable tie strap body teeth have their peaks even with or slightly below the top surface of the side rails. Typically, the head of such cable ties comprise a strap accepting channel and a locking pawl which extends into the strap accepting channel, the locking pawl being pivotally disposed within the head of the cable tie about a thin, flexible hinge. Plastic cable ties have become increasingly popular for a variety of bundling and attachment applications because of their relatively low initial cost and their ease of installation. Flexible plastic cable ties are widely used to secure elongate items, such as wires, cables, hoses and tubes, into compact, secure bundles. Typically, such ties include a head and a flexible strap which terminates in a tail.
