As industry has continued to refine and improve production techniques and procedures, corresponding requirements have been levied for position identifying, data related markings upon components of manufactured assemblies. There are many occasions where it is necessary to mark insulated electrical conductors with information such as the wire size or the identity of the circuit in which the wire is involved. It is often desirable in the electric cable industry to have insulated electrical wires with specific markings that distinguish one insulated wire from another. Various types of cable markers have been known for marking electrical cables. Typically, the cable marking systems have employed a wire storage reel, a wire feed transport, wire guides, an ink jet printer station, an encoder, a coiling pan and related electronic control and interface devices which permit the system to function in an integrated manner.
