Wireless speaker

Home theater entertainment systems are becoming increasingly sophisticated and complex. Typical surround sound systems incorporate at least five speakers: front right and left speakers, rear right and left speakers and a front center speaker. The home entertainment systems generally require their speakers to be hard-wired back to the main system components. Thus, the complexity of these systems is increasing. For example, surround sound systems use six speakers, some of which may be located at a considerable distance from the main system. As a result, a multitude of speaker wires must be run throughout the room and the house to each speaker which can be extremely difficult to accomplish. Also, because wires must be run to each speaker throughout a room and potentially throughout a house, the distraction or nuisance of the wires increases the complexity of the systems. Wireless speaker systems provide an attractive solution since installation does not require extensive and possibly expensive wiring. In addition, wireless speaker systems may be located in virtually any short range from the source of audio signals without rewiring the speakers to the source. Wireless speakers receive musical signals transmitted directly from home stereo systems or portable music players. A number of systems have been developed to provide short range communications such as for wireless speaker operation in a stereophonic sound reproduction system. These systems generate a low power radio frequency signal modulated with stereophonic signals and are broadcast to a receiver connected to the speakers avoiding the necessity to hard wire the speakers to the source of stereophonic signals.
