Home theater speaker
Home theater systems allow the user to experience the sound quality of a good cinema set-up in their own home, with a properly set up system creating a surround sound field placing the user in the centre of the action. Audio is an essential part of modem home entertainment systems, including television, video playback systems, computers and music playback systems. More and more people are adding additional audio components to their entertainment center to create home theater systems. With the advent of home theater systems and with high definition television rapidly becoming a commercially viable technology, speaker systems must be available for the home audiophile that are suitable for such high-fidelity use. Speakers for use with home theater systems preferably reproduce all frequencies that the soundtrack delivers. Surround speakers carry ambient audio components of the soundtrack, such as reflections, reverberations and echoes, to enable the user to audibly differentiate the different settings for the displayed scene. Speakers typically include one or more speaker drivers, each of which is capable of reproducing a certain range of frequencies. The basic types of speaker drivers are generally referred to as woofers, midrange drivers and tweeter drivers. The speaker arrangement for a home theater system typically comprises a pair of main (left and right) speakers, a centre channel speaker, and a pair of surround speakers; optionally, one or more powered subwoofers may be added for additional bass handling. The main speakers are positioned either side of the screen to allow the audio to move left and right with the image on the screen.
