Projectors are utilized in many aspects of modern life. From home theaters to business presentations, projectors are provided to offer a wide range of functionality to consumers. Projectors integrates light sources, optics system, electronics and displays for the purpose of projecting an image from a computer or video device onto a wall or screen for large image viewing. Computerized presentations are an effective method of presenting information in an informative and polished manner. A LCD projector includes one or more transmissive liquid crystal displays as light valves that control light from an illumination system to form display images. Liquid crystal display panels have a number of advantages that make them useful in optical projectors. A digital light projector (DLP) is a high-brightness system developed based on digital light processing (DLP) technology. DLP projectors utilize transmission lenses to perform projection. A digital light processor employs a digital micromirror device (DMD) to selectively reflect light to produce an image. A movie projector for projecting a motion pictur comprises a light source, a mechanical film stage and projection optics.

A projector is a device generally including a light source and an optical system projecting and enlarging an image onto a screen. Image and video projection systems are used to display a still or video image. Projectors modulate light beams emitted from a light source in accordance with image information and project it on an enlarged scale. There are several different types of technologies utilized by the light engines of today's projectors: cathode ray tube (CRT), liquid crystal display (LCD), digital light processing (DLP) and liquid crystal on silicon (LCOS). Liquid crystal panels that modulate light in accordance with supplied image information are widely utilized as direct view display apparatuses and as light valves (light modulators) of projection display apparatuses. Liquid crystal display projectors are classified into a three-plate type and a single plate type projectors. |

Computers are often used in conjunction with projection screens for presentations and meetings. When making a presentation in a lecture like using a liquid crystal projector, a laser pointer projects a laser beam onto a screen and indicates a point of interest. A laser pointer is typically formed by adding a laser module at the front end of a pen body. A laser pointer generally includes a cylindrical laser pointer main body as large as a fountain pen, a driving circuit which is provided in the laser pointer main body and activated by a battery, and a light emission element which is provided near the fore end of the laser pointer main body and serves to emit a red laser beam by the action of the driving circuit. The laser beam generated by the laser module can form a bright light spot on an object for instructional purposes. |

Image projection devices such as liquid crystal display (LCD) projectors, digital light processing (DLP) projectors, film projectors, slide projectors, and overhead projectors are used to project an image onto a surface. A digital light projector (DLP) includes a digital mirror device (DMD) that receives a demanded image to produce a video image that is projected onto a screen. The deformable mirror device is a monolithic single-chip integrated circuit spatial light modulator (SLM), comprised of a high density array of micron square movable micromirrors on micron centers. The digital micromirror device chip functions as a reflective digital optical switch, which can precisely control the light. DLP projectors have high brightness, accurate tone reproduction, quick response time, thin and light composition. |

Overhead projectors generally include a light source, one or more lenses and reflectors, and a stage upon which a transparency is placed for projection. A projection head is used tor project a magnified image on the transparency onto a remote screen. Transmissive overhead projectors consist of a base having a transparent stage area, a light source inside the base, a projection head mounted above the stage, and a condensing lens system located near the stage for directing the light towards the projector head. The light source of the reflection type is arranged in a unit incorporating the projector head, and the stage has a Fresnel mirror that supports the original material. Opaque projectors have the ability to project images of opaque materials and three dimensional objects in addition to transparencies. |

Multimedia is a combination of various types of media, including sound, animation, video and graphics. A presentation involving audio and video clips would be considered a multimedia presentation. Multimedia is perhaps the fastest growing application for computer systems. Presentations using multimedia projection systems have become popular for conducting sales demonstrations, business meetings, and classroom instruction. A projector is provided where an image is generated by an image display device receiving an image data from a personal computer or a video camera and projected on a screen. Digital image projectors are widely used to project color images generated from digital signals encoding the images onto the front of a reflective display screen for a conference-room presentation. |

Image display projectors generate display images and project them onto display screens. A projection screen is an optical device which does not create an image but provides a required field of view in the vertical and horizontal directions of viewer space. The projection screen may be configured to reflect the output of the projector such that it is viewable by one or more people. A screen useful for displaying a projected image may be as simple as a reflective surface. A reflective type screen comprising a reflective layer which reflects light from a projector and a diffusion layer which diffuses the reflected light has been used as a screen. The environment in which the projector and screen are utilized may have an effect on the visual quality of the image that is displayed on the screen. |

Video projectors project an image in accordance with a received video signal. Video color projectors enable an enlarged color image to be produced from relatively small monochrome display devices. Video projectors modulate light beams emitted from a light source in accordance with image information and project it on an enlarged scale. In the operation of an image projection system, an image is projected from an image source to a screen, and the projected image is viewed by a viewer in front of the screen. A projection display device basically consists of a light source lamp unit, an optical unit, a projection lens unit, a power supply unit, and a circuit substrate. Digital light processing (DLP) and LCD (liquid crystal display) are the two popular technologies currently used in projectors and video projectors. |
