Karaoke is a form of entertainment that features a live singer with pre-recorded accompaniment. A karaoke machine provides a microphone for the karaoke singer and displays lyrics or words of the selected song on a monitor. Karaoke machines display a background video matching a karaoke song being performed in order to augment the mood of the song. The typical karaoke machine is a stand-alone which presents a display of lyric characters and dynamic background pictures in addition to the karaoke accompaniment. The communication karaoke system is a multimedia network system handling audio information, character image information or moving picture image. Musical software for a communication karaoke system is produced by a MIDI instrument by a personal computer. |

A hard disk drive (HDD) is a mass-storage device of a computer, which reads out data stored in a magnetic disk or records data on the magnetic disk by using a magnetic head. The hard disk drive includes one or more randomly accessible rotatable storage media, or disks upon which data is encoded. The data is encoded as bits of information using magnetic field reversals grouped in tracks on the magnetic hard surface of rotating disks. Hard disk drives contain a plurality of transducers that are coupled to magnetic disks. The transducers can read and write information by magnetizing and sensing the magnetic fields of the disks. The transducers are integrated into a head that is mounted to a suspension. The head and suspension are typically referred to as a head gimbal assembly. |

Video games have become extremely popular since they were first introduced. Most video game consoles have a slot for receiving a video game cartridge. To operate the video game system, a player inserts a game program which may be stored in a game cartridge into the console and typically depresses a start switch to begin play of the particular game programmed into the cartridge. As a game is played, a player or players control various visual aspects of the game using either the hard-wired or wireless controllers. Video game systems used in the home are basically simple computers that use joysticks, paddles and other devices for input, and the television screen for output. Arcade video games integrate electronic and mechanical devices designed to make arcade video games more interactive. |

PCMCIA cards, also known as PC cards, are a memory card standard set by the Personal Computer Memory Card International Association. PC cards are a common way to connect devices to a personal computer. The PCMCIA cards contain attribute memories which are written to or read from host software for control and monitoring of the card's capability. Many of today's laptop, notebook, desktop computers, and computer peripherals are designed to receive removable devices conforming to the PCMCIA standard. The PCMCIA interface defines a physical size and electrical interconnection for computer peripherals. The size of each PCMCIA device is approximately that of a credit card, and each device connects mechanically and electrically through a standard connector to a host computer. |

Halogen light bulbs have been used for several years in a variety of types of lighting fixtures. Halogen lights are brighter and whiter than light produced by standard light bulbs. The intensity of the illumination from halogen lamps remains virtually constant throughout the life of the lamp. Tungsten halogen lamps comprise a hermetically sealed vitreous, light transmissive envelope enclosing a tungsten filament and containing a fill comprising a halide or halogen gas. Halogen incandescent lamps utilize a tungsten filament which is supported and connected to electrical lead wires which supply the filament with current and cause the filament to produce incandescent light. Halogen incandescent lamps have a bulb or envelope of quartz glass, within which a coiled incandescent filament is located. |

An optical power meter measures the light intensity of the input optical signal received by the selected output waveguide. Fiber optics are increasingly being utilized to carry optical energy from a variety of sources such as pulsed modulated signals originating from laser diodes, intensity and wavelength information indicating the sensed substance, and high power laser beams to cut and/or anneal materials. Fiber optic cable has become the predominant transmission media for telecommunications. The proper utilization of fiber optic systems requires precise instruments for measuring optical power and testing the integrity of optical circuits. Fiber optic test instruments are used to characterize the quality of fiber optic links. The optical power levels may be monitored by optical power meters. |

Optical character recognition (OCR) is the technology for character recognition that employs optical means to identify graphic characters. A character recognition device is generally used as an input device for a computer. Computerized document processing includes scanning of the document and the conversion of the actual image of a document into an electronic image of the document. The recognition system reads characters of a character code line by framing and recognizing the characters within the image data. The scanning process generates an electronic pixel representation of the image with a density of several hundred pixels per inch. The pixel image may be stored and processed directly or it may be converted into a compressed image for storage in a computer. |
