A solar battery is one of the most important energy sources available for energy saving.Solar power systems employ photovoltaic cells to convert the radiant energy of sunlight directly into electrical energy. Photovoltaic cells are devices which convert radiant photon energy directly into electrical energy and are commonly used today in small electronic devices such as calculators and watches. Solar panels have a large number of solar cells which are used to convert power from sunlight. Power generated by the solar cells is coupled via electric lines to a rectifier for feeding into the alternating current (AC) network or to a battery. Solar panels are typically mounted on a mounting structure. Solar cells which utilize crystalline semiconductors offer the advantages of high performance and reliability. |

In a typical computer system interconnected to a network, a network adapter, network card, or network interface adapter (NIA) acts as an interface between the host computer and a computer network. A network adapter may be coupled to a host system to provide communications. The network interface card moves data to and from random access memory inside the computer and also controls the flow of data in and out of the network cabling system. The network adapter includes a memory for storing data or software program code images that the host computer utilizes in communicating over the computer network. The network controller located in a network adapter manages transmission and reception of data packets by transferring data between the network and a shared memory subsystem. |

Uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems operate in conjunction with a main power source to ensure a continuous supply of energy to critical AC loads. An uninterruptible power supply uses a battery backup as a secondary or reserve power source which is activated to supply power to the load upon total failure of the commercial power or significant degradation of the primary power source. Uninterruptible power supply systems are used in a wide variety of applications, such as for providing reliable and regulated AC power to computer systems, telecommunications switching equipment and cable television transmission equipment. An uninterruptible power supply generally comprises a rectifier, inverter, battery charger, DC battery, input filter/surge protector, controller, and other components. |

A remote control is used to wirelessly control consumer electronic devices and home electrical appliances, such as air conditioners, televisions, stereo radios, digital video disk players, video cassette recorders, set-top cable television boxes and set-top satellite boxes. Universal remote controls can be programmed to control one or more electronic devices and can replace one or more source remote control. Universal remote control units include a memory that stores signal formatting data of different manufacturers which identify the signal structure to which specific manufacturer and model number devices are responsive. Remote control devices commonly use infrared or radio frequency wireless data transmission. These remote control devices have an integrated power source such as batteries. |

The global positioning system (GPS) is a satellite-based navigation system that continuously transmits timing, frequency and satellite position information to potential users. A typical global positioning satellite signal comprises a high frequency carrier signal which is modulated by one or more pseudo-random number sequences of lower frequency. In the GPS tracking system, transmitters are positioned on orbiting satellites. The receiver is synchronized with the data stream by matching an identical suedo-random data stream albeit with a time offset. The signals from several satellites allow the receiver to compute its position, velocity and time parameters through known triangulation techniques. The global positioning system (GPS) navigation system has come to a wide application in tracking systems. |

Transistors are the basic building block of electronic devices. Among transistors, field effect transistors (FET) such as CMOS transistors are widely used in the electronics industry. A field effect transistor is a semiconductor component with three terminals which are referred to as the gate, source and drain. FET transistors can be classified as either junction field effect transistor (JFET) devices or metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistor (MOSFET) devices. Metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistors employ a double pn-junction structure as a base structure, the pn-junction structure having a linear property at a low drain voltage. Field effect transistors are employed in almost every electronic circuit application, such as signal processing, computing, and wireless communications. |

An oscilloscope is used to acquire, analyze and display electronic signal waveforms. Oscilloscopes are an essential for research, development, and manufacturing of electronic devices. Digital oscilloscopes operate by sampling a time varying analog signal periodically and storing the sample values in correlation with time in a waveform memory. A digital storage oscilloscope samples and digitizes the analog signal at a predetermined sample rate to produce a stream of digital data samples that represent the analog signal. Digital oscilloscope instruments have the flexibility of providing a wide range of storage, display and processing options. Digital oscilloscopes acquire information about the behavior of a circuit node by periodically sampling the voltage present at the node. |
