Incandescent lamps are well-known for providing pleasing illumination and finding applications in millions of homes. In an incandescent lamp, an incandescent filament is enclosed within an envelope. Incandescent lamps employ a coiled refractory metal filament as the light source means to provide general illumination. Filaments for electric incandescent lamps are generally made of wire comprised principally of tungsten with up to several percent of other materials such as thoria, rehenium or dopants for nonsag purposes. Incandescent lamp filaments generally comprise a filament with a coiled portion and an uncoiled portion where the coiled portion is the actual glowing part of the filament. The uncoiled portion of the filament is used for attaching the complete filament structure to a lead wire. Halogen-cycle incandescent lamps utilize a halogen, such as bromine or iodine, within the envelope which returns vaporized tungsten material to the filament and thus prevents the envelope walls from progressively blackening and drastically reducing the light output of the lamp during its useful life. Incandescent lamps come in various sizes, the most well-known being that of the A-line which is typically termed a general service incandescent lamp and is available in a wide range of wattage ratings. Such general service incandescent lamps typically employ a tungsten filament. A parabolic aluminized reflector (PAR) is another incandescent lamp employing a tungsten filament and has a built-in reflector for accurate focusing of emitted light to a desired medium. In recent years, the range of utilization of incandescent lamps acting as a heat source as well as a light source for a general illumination purposes and for an optical equipment and the like has expanded. Various types of halogen incandescent lamps are used in the automotive industry. Halogen incandescent lamps of quartz glass are used in head lights, fog lights, and driving lights. Incandescent lamps are used in a heating device for heat treatment such as rapid heating, high temperature holding and rapid cooling. In such an incandescent lamp as above, one in which a double coil is applied as a filament is preferably used.
