Networking hubs are used in wiring closets to provide a central connection point for multiple network devices, such as bridges, routers, network switches, terminal servers, repeaters and probes. An Ethernet or other communication network typically includes a hub which is connected to the arrangement of components by communication cables, and which allows the computers, workstations, or file servers to exchange data signals. Data signals sent from a transmitting component to a receiving component are transmitted to the hub and repeated at the hub for transmission to the receiving component. The hub enables multiple computers, workstations, or file servers to share resources in a variety of applications. Typically, a hub includes one or more devices for routing data transfers between a number of ports in a workgroup. Each port is assigned to one or more individual users or one or more individual computers, workstations, or servers. Internal data path resources within the hub are used to pass data between the multiple line cards. The external networks connected with the line card may be one of a variety of network types, such as Ethernet, Token Ring (IEEE 802.5), Fiber Distributed Data Interconnect, Asynchronous Transfer Mode, Wide Area Network Links, or proprietary buses. Most network hubs are equipped with indicator lights for indicating different network line conditions
