A wiring duct, or wireway, is used in electrical equipment for supporting and retaining electrical conductors and for permitting individual conductors to be routed to and from the wiring duct. The use of plastic wiring duct raceways to route electrical power, fiber optic and other power and signal conductors has become very popula due to their convenience in channeling, selectively routing and retaining the various wires of a wire bundle interconnecting the components of an electrical system. A wide variety of wiring duct and raceway systems are known for routing various types of wires and cables. Wireways typically comprise duct-like enclosures for housing electrical conductors such as wires and cables to isolate the conductors and prevent dust, dirt, oil and/or water from coming into contact with the conductors. The wiring system is generally enclosed within the wall structure between suitable outlet and power connections. The precise configuration of each duct system, including the raceway sizes, lengths and locations, and the number and type of junction enclosures, is determined by site specific wiring layout.
