Electrical connections are often located in areas where contamination by foreign matter such as dirt or moisture can cause failure. In order to protect electrical connectors to which the mating connector or plug has not been coupled, against environmental factors, and EMI, RFI and EMP, it has been proposed heretofore to provide protective covers to be secured to the unmated connector. Covers are used to protect the wire bundles to a wire harness from edges and burrs in the vehicle and from damage during such operations as tightening bolts. Connector cap is used to seal the connector against EMI, RFI and EMP,  against moisture or other environmental factors, against normal shock and vibration, and is always ready for application, when in the unmated configuration. Telecommunication equipment has benefited from the design of electrical plugs and jacks that provide easy connect/disconnect capability between electrical circuits within the telecommunications equipment and for local network wiring. Modular plugs provide a convenient means for connecting and disconnecting telephone equipment, telecommunications equipment, and computer-related equipment. Two conductor coaxial cable with so called 1/4" phone plugs is commonly used to interconnect audio equipment such as amplifiers, microphones, and electrified instruments such as guitars and keyboards. Generally, such plugs have a cylindrical body that inserts in a mating jack of the audio equipment, and the cylindrical body surrounds a tip rod that projects beyond the body. Audio connector plugs have also been attached to coaxial cable using solderless connections.
